Donations

NutritionLink Services Society funds its efforts from income received on its funds held by VanCity Foundation, by earnings on its own commercial activities and from donations received from members and the general public. As Canadian registered charity, NutritionLink issues tax receipts for donations received.

Any donations received will be applied directly to further the Organization’s goals of promoting healthy eating in BC. Details of the projects NutritionLink supported with our funds and donations received will be outlined each year in our Annual Report posted on this website.

CanadaHelps.org Online Security Policy

“Your privacy and security is important to us. We work carefully to ensure that your personal information is kept safe and secure throughout the transaction process. Our site is built on one of the most respected web application platforms available, and is protected against unauthorized activity by robust hardware and software security systems.

On any pages where you share or store personal information or perform financial transactions, CanadaHelps.org encrypts your data using Secure Socket Layers (SSL), the industry standard security protocol. This allows you to send and receive information without the worry of having that sensitive data (such as your credit card or home address) intercepted by anyone other than yourself and CanadaHelps.org. You know that the page you are viewing is secure when your browser displays a ‘closed lock’ or other symbol to let you know that SSL has been enabled. CanadaHelps.org uses the most advanced security available; you can verify our information by clicking on the VeriSign/Soltrus Secure Site Seal.
In the MyCanadaHelps area, your stored information is secured using SSL, and is accessible using your unique username and password. As with any secure information, please be sure to keep your password a secret, revealed to no one. The information that is stored in your MyCanadaHelps account is for your review and our payment processing only.
Only CanadaHelps.org and the charity you’ve donated to are allowed to access your personal information. Charities may check your address in order to send a thank-you card, or keep you informed about how they are using your gift. All of this information is contained within a secure section of the site, and charities can only log on using unique usernames and passwords, issued and accessed by encoded authentication services. Each charity has their own specific login, and can access only the donor information that is theirs; no donor information is shared by CanadaHelps.org with other charities, and we will not sell or trade our donor records to anyone. For added privacy, we even offer an anonymous donation service, where you still receive a tax receipt, but the charity you contribute to cannot see your name, email address or mailing information.”

FAQ’s about Donations:

What is CanadaHelps?

CanadaHelps.org is a not-for-profit charity portal that serves as an information resource about charities in Canada and seeks to promote and facilitate philanthropy through online giving. As a public foundation, CanadaHelps uses a donor-directed funding model to facilitate online donations from donors to charities. CanadaHelps.org offers its services at a very low cost to the charity and at no cost to the donor.

Why did NutritionLink use this option for on-line giving?

CanadaHelps.org offers a safe, secure e-commerce option for non-profits. Their service fee is only 3%, which ensures 97% of the money you donate to NutritionLink reaches us and can be applied toward our programs and projects. CanadaHelps.org ensures privacy of donor information, and offers different giving options.
How can donations be made?
NutritionLink offers donors a choice of methods to make donations….
  • online using a credit card (through CanadaHelps.org)
  • through directed giving during United Way workplace campaigns
  • by cheque – mailed directly to our office

How are receipts provided?

All online donations will have their receipt issued electronically by CanadaHelps.org on behalf of NutritionLink Society.
All donations made through the United Way are included in the United Way receipt even though donations are directed to NutritionLink at your request.
All cash or cheques donations provided to NutritionLink Society directly will be mailed to recipients from our office.

What does NutritionLink do with donations?

All donations are kept separate from general operating funds and are placed in a high yield investment until they are required to help support a program or project that is not adequately funded.
