A peek into our history!
NutritionLink Society (NLS) was established in 1993 as the Dial-A-Dietitian Information Society of British Columbia. Its principal purpose was to support the Dial-A-Dietitian information line and over the years it was instrumental in the substantial growth of the nutrition call centre. The Dial-A-Dietitian program transitioned to become HealthLink BC in 2008 and in preparation for this, the Society changed its name in 2005 to NutritionLink Services Society (NLS). |

At that time NLS began to refine its mandate, and underlying this refinement was the Society’s commitment to the belief that healthy eating is right for everyone in British Columbia, recognizing that some groups have more challenges to accessing nutritious, acceptable and affordable foods than others. In September 2008, NLS and the BC Nutrition Council (BCNC) merged. The BCNC’s 60- year history of nutrition education activities shared a common vision and mission with NLS and this merger started NLS off on its new direction.
