Description & Link to Mission
NutritionLink Services Society (NLS) is a highly respected participant among BC’s charitable organizations focused on improving health for BC residents through the promotion of healthy eating. The organization is looking to recruit a new Board member to complement the existing volunteer Board as a Director At Large or as a Treasurer while helping the NLS expand and develop as a charity to further nutrition education in BC. The NLS’ objective is to continue the work that it has been doing as well as make connections and expand its charitable range to more vulnerable populations in need. The NLS is also excited to work towards increasing its granting program through new partnerships. The NLS is a financially sound organization that currently funds its charitable activities through margin generating activities and a donor-directed fund with a major Vancouver-based foundation.
Our vision: BC residents enjoy a healthy diet.
Our mission: To support and sponsor food security projects through nutrition education and food skill building for vulnerable BC residents.
Join the NLS as they deliberate on their role for the future and work towards implementing it.
The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of BC’s charities, unbridled enthusiasm and demonstrated success in facilitating the strategic repositioning of small/charitable organizations. If interested in filling the role of Treasurer: a formal accounting designation is an asset but not required. All applicants with significant financial management experience will be considered. Other qualifications include experience offering financial advice, auditing accounts, and providing trustworthy information about financial records. The NLS employs a contract bookkeeper/accountant and the Treasurer would provide financial oversight. Another qualification the NLS is seeking is the ability to assist with the review of the NLS Bylaws and Constitution as per the new BC Society’s Act.
